Nina Crespo Presents Binging on Books with Priscilla Oliveras
Nina: I met Priscilla when we were both guests on a panel. Since then, we’ve had a few interesting conversations about the writer’s life. She’s constantly on the move and full of good energy, just like her books.
Nina: If you were on a restricted diet of romance, what would be your main course (genre or trope) and why?
Priscilla: I’m a big fan of the friends to lovers trope. It adds another dynamic to the will they-won’t they anxiety, for the reader and the characters. Do they really wanna mess up the good thing they have as friends, but what if as lovers it could be oh so much better…? That’s definitely what kept Jeremy from moving faster with Rosa in Her Perfect Affair.
Nina: What’s your favorite dessert—an alpha or a beta hero?
Priscilla: Oh, I’m definitely a cinnamon roll hero fan! Someone who’s not afraid to show his softer side, especially with the right woman. Even my streetsmart cop, Diego Reyes, Lilí’s hero in book #3 of my MATCHED TO PERFECTION series, Their Perfect Melody, has a softer side. Lilí sees it in his work with kids at the youth center and when he picks up his guitar. ~~~sigh~~~
There’s also Nate Hamilton, Sofía’s hero in Resort to Love, who knows exactly how to make a lady feel special. He’s smart, caring, and humble enough to admit his past mistakes. Again ~~~sigh~~~
So, yeah, these are the types of heroes that satisfy my sweet tooth.
Nina: What’s your after dinner drink? Coffee, tea, wine champagne, brandy (or your choice:).
Priscilla: If I’m feeling decadent, maybe a latte with a splash of Tia Maria. Although, I’m good with a glass of a red blend wine or a sweeter chardonnay. And, to be honest, I’ve rarely turned down a glass of champagne, especially if it’s a cava.
About Priscilla’s Book
The Fernandez sisters have always had big dreams, and the talent and drive to pursue them. And in this sunny, spicy new series, each one will discover that success is that much sweeter when love follows . . .
Rosa Fernandez doesn’t act on impulse—she’s the responsible one, planning her career with precision, finally landing a job as the librarian at conservative Queen of Peace Academy, confining her strongest emotions to her secret poetry journal. But she’s been harboring a secret crush on dreamy Jeremy Taylor, and after one dance with him at her sister’s wedding, Rosa longs to let loose for the first time. She deserves some fun, after all. So what if she doesn’t have a shot with Jeremy, not with his wealthy pedigree and high profile lifestyle. But one dance leads to one kiss, and soon Rosa is head-over-heels . . .
The adopted son of a prominent Chicago lawyer, Jeremy has a lot to live up to—especially with his birth father in prison—the perfect example of a bad example. With a big promotion and a move to Japan in the works, Jeremy is worlds away from settling down. But sweet, steady Rosa is a temptation he doesn’t want to deny himself, at least for now. Yet when their simple fling turns complicated, everything they’ve both worked for is threatened—except the red-hot intimacy they’ve found together. Can forever really grow from just-for-now?
Excerpt
“Mis amigos, it’s almost closing time.” The DJ’s rich baritone elicited a groan of disapproval from the partiers. “We’ll play our last slow song, then finish the night with a bang. Gracias por venir esta noche! For you gringos, that means ‘thanks for coming tonight’ to celebrate Yazmine and Tomás’s wedding! Now, here’s one for all you couples out there.”
The beginning strains of an old Spanish love song drifted from the speakers. Regret and loss tightened Rosa’s throat when she recognized the tune as one Papi and his trío had often played at their gigs throughout the years.
Around the ballroom, dancers quickly paired up. Rosa watched a young teen work up the nerve to ask a pretty girl from their church to join him. The girl hesitated, hands clasped behind her back. Rosa waited, anxiously hoping the poor boy’s spirits weren’t about to be crushed.
Dios, her adolescent memories were pockmarked with similar self-esteem-diminishing moments. Waiting for this cute boy or that smart one to invite her to a school dance, or out for ice cream. Or even for a library study date. The one time she’d tried taking the initiative, she’d bungled it. Badly. Eventually, she’d given up wishing for a date. Books were far safer companions.
Finally, the girl gave a shy nod and the young couple moved to join the others. Out of the corner of her eye, Rosa noticed Jeremy pushing his seat back. She turned to say good-bye, only to find him holding out a hand to her.
“You’re not going to let the night end without allowing me one dance, are you?” His blue eyes warmed with a plea for her to say yes.
Surprised anticipation hummed in her chest.
She’d wanted an invite from him all night, but figured his date wouldn’t appreciate it. Now that the statuesque socialite was out of the picture. . . .
Behind him, Rosa caught Lilí laughing with her partner, enjoying herself, having done very little tonight to help behind the scenes.
Diviértete, Lilí had chided her earlier during the wedding party dance.
Her little sister was right. It was time for her to have a little fun. The thought had Rosa’s pulse pounding like she’d already started dancing a salsa.
Rising to her feet, she set her hand in Jeremy’s larger one.
His fingers closed around hers, the tight grip welcome, reassuring. He led the way to the edge of the dance floor, where he pulled her close to him.

Nina Crespo Presents: Binging on Books with Mia Sosa
Nina: I was introduced to Mia Sosa by a fellow author. We had lunch together and enjoyed great burgers. laughter, and conversation. In the short time I’ve known Mia, I’ve learned a lot from her on so many topics. I invite you to take a moment to find out more about Mia and her wonderful books.
Nina: If you were on a restricted diet of romance, what would be your main course (genre or trope) and why?
Mia: Oh, I can binge on enemies-to-lovers stories forever and ever! I adore the idea of two people taking all that passionate hate and transforming it into passionate love. Like, I could roll around in that trope for days. But I wouldn’t want them to show their “hate” in a mean-spirited way; it has to be fun and flirty. So maybe what I’m really talking about are “frenemies-to-lovers” stories.
Nina: What’s your favorite dessert—an alpha or a beta hero?
Mia: A beta in alpha clothing.
Nina: What’s your after dinner drink? Coffee, tea, wine champagne, brandy (or your choice:).
Mia: Wine. Always wine.
Mia Sosa returns with another fun, flirty romance in her critically-acclaimed Love on Cue series!
For Hollywood agent Julian Hart, representing his best friend—megastar Carter Williamson—means it’s nearly impossible to keep his personal life and career separate. To make matters worse, Carter’s younger sister has been starring in Julian’s wildest fantasies more often than he’d care to admit. He knows she’s off-limits, but when Ashley shows up on his doorstep, needing a place to crash… suddenly his greatest temptation is sleeping down the hall.
Free-spirited Ashley Williamson doesn’t do commitment. Jobs, apartments, men… why let herself be tied down? But she’s had a crush on her older brother’s best friend for years and she’s committed to making Julian want her, one towel-clad midnight encounter at a time. But just as things start heating up, their steamy flirtation is interrupted by Carter’s east coast wedding. Ashley has no desire to go home and face her reputation as the family disappointment. But living with—dare she say dating?—a successful, sexy film agent could give them something else to talk about.
Julian can’t believe he agreed to fake a relationship with the one woman he can never have. And it’s going to take more than a little willpower to remember it’s all pretend. Or is it?
Excerpt
A woman in my condo is experiencing a toe-curling orgasm—and to my knowledge, this is the first time I’m in no way responsible for it.
Because this dumpster fire needs more tinder, the person bringing herself pleasure within the confines of my not-so-humble abode is my best friend’s younger sister.
I’d prefer to sustain a thousand paper cuts than listen to her moans, the catch of her breath, the rustling of the sheets around her body. But she’s crashing at my place, and she left the door of the guest bedroom open—just a tiny, torturous crack. The sliver of soft light coming from the adjoining bathroom beckons like a portal to another world. Come, the deep, booming voice of James Earl Jones says. The embodiment of your hidden and fucked-up fantasies lies in this realm.
I squeeze my eyes shut. Dammit. This isn’t right. It’s a personal moment, and I shouldn’t be privy to it. Summoning what’s left of the self-control that’s served me well for more years than I’d care to admit, I turn away from the light and slink down the short hall to my kitchen. There, I refit my wireless headphones and find a tall glass for the water that brought me out of my room.
I’d resigned myself to remaining as far away from Ashley as possible while she stayed the night. Instead, an innocent trip to the fridge has left me thirsty for something else altogether. I’m not even sure why I took off my headphones as I passed her room. But I did. And now I know what she sounds like when she comes.
I need to shut down this line of thinking immediately. But hell, the portal is open, and despite my good intentions, I’m tempted to step through and explore this other world.
No. I shouldn’t. I really shouldn’t.
Picture her in pigtails and remember what it was like to help her stand after an epic fall on the bike she loved to ride.
Forget that she’s now a sexy woman, and banish any inappropriate thoughts about her to a parallel universe that will never intersect with this one.
Although temporary, the solution is simple. Fifty push-ups will round out my workout and help stifle my libido. With my get-over-my-lust-for-Ashley plan in place, I set the glass in the sink, cut the light switch, and spin around. A warm body skids into me, its owner’s soft mouth brushing against my bare shoulder.
She shrinks back and yelps.
Instinctively, I tug Ashley forward, steadying her and mentally unbalancing myself in the process. With my chest flush against hers, I try to memorize the way we fit together, greedy to gain something from this unexpected contact.
“Julian? Please tell me it’s you.”
The tremor in her voice pulls me out of my stupor. I breathe heavily through my nose as I drop my arms and step back slowly. Turning to the counter and grasping it for support, I eke out, “It’s me, Ashley.”
As she sighs in relief, the memory of her curves imprints itself in my brain like a freshly inked intricate tattoo, simultaneously mesmerizing and painful.
Fuck the fifty push-ups. I’m going to need a hundred.

Spring Fling Scavenger Hunt
Nina Crespo Presents: Binging on Books with MK Meredith
Nina: MK Meredith and I connected with each other through social media as pub sisters at Entangled Publishing. Genuine and generous were the first words that popped into my mind when I finally met her two years ago. Dive into her new book this week. You’ll enjoy it.
Nina: If you were on a restricted diet of romance, what would be your main course (genre or trope) and why?
MK: I am a hardcore lover of historical romance, and one of my favorite tropes is the heroine fighting to keep her home, her birthright. Strong and fierce and not afraid to fight back against the dominance and mission of the sexy hero. But boy, when she decides to take a sampling, she’s happy she did! LOL!
Nina: What’s your favorite dessert—an alpha or a beta hero?
MK: I love a well-balanced hero who is a mix between an alpha and beta…I want my hero to take me up against a wall because he’s so overcome with the attraction between us, but believe a woman should be cherished, listened to, and supported. Is that too much to ask? Heehee! It’s not! I found one IRL!!
Nina: What’s your after dinner drink? Coffee, tea, wine champagne, brandy (or your choice:).
MK: My after dinner drink is a rich, full-bodied red wine when I’m being indulgent, and the bubbles of a great Cava or Prosecco when I’m having to be more careful with sugars. If I’m on a date with my honey, I love to sip on a delicious Scotch, and when hanging at a conference hand me a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives! I’m never good at picking just one!
About MK’s Book
On the rocky, atmospheric coast of Cape Van Buren, Maine…
After a decade of making it on her own, Irish immigrant, Blayne MacCaffrey is determined to return to her homeland and make peace with her father, who hasn’t forgiven her for deserting the family—for what she believed was true love. Her ticket home is in the bag with the launch of the Archer Conservation Park of Cape Van Buren. Only she must partner with the devastatingly sexy heartbreaker who first awakened her desires and unequivocally destroyed her dreams years ago.
Believing that family duty comes before everything else, James Astor made the biggest mistake of his life and had abandoned the only woman he’d ever loved. But after a decade of lucrative business transactions and empty relationships, he returns to the Cape, determined to show Blayne how perfect they are together and why he’s worth falling in love with all over again.
A second chance at first love is a dream neither can bear to lose again. With a past marred by painful mistakes, can they find the courage to forgive and fight for love? Or are these two souls destined to repeat history?
Excerpt
If anyone asked, he’d say the devil made him do it. And he’d do it again, too.
Without a sound, he stepped behind her, so close his chest brushed her back.
She sucked in a breath, but couldn’t move because she had two porcelain dishes perched on the edge of the shelf.
“Careful now. I’m just trying to help.” His voice was even but his blood raced through his veins at her nearness. Her scent wafted around his head, her heat warmed his skin, and the silky slide of her hair tickled his biceps as he reached around her to assist with the bowls.
“Jamie.” She stiffened. And he’d have sworn on his position at the conservation center she quit breathing.
“You’re about to lose two bowls that were balanced against the ones in your hands. Take it easy and let me help you.”
“I don’t need your help.” She shoved back slightly with her ass to force him to move but all she accomplished was pushing those round globes tight against his dick. And his vision went white.
Now he was the one who couldn’t breathe. God damn, she felt so good.
As quickly as she pushed back, she pulled forward.
His hands wanted to grab her hips and pull her back so he could grind against her softness, and his heart wanted to pull her back to a time when she loved him. He blinked and swallowed hard, then adjusting the bowls by her hands, helped slide the other two back to safe ground.
As if his body hadn’t been on the verge of exploding, he stepped away and returned to his table.
Blayne didn’t move away from the shelf for a full minute. He’d counted, thankful for the time to get his body in check and his mind straight. Those kind of games were dangerous, but fuck him if it didn’t feel good to play.
Finally, she quietly cleared her throat and reached for her clipboard, busying herself with her list of incoming stock.
He opened another box, slipped the box cutter blade safely beneath the protective edge, then set it on the table.
With a quick, easy grace, she grabbed the box cutter and unsheathed the blade.
“What the hell?” He looked from the blade to her eyes which glittered in a telling, ominous manner.
He let out a soft chuckle. “Blayne, don’t be ridiculous.”
She raised the blade a little higher in its sheath.
“I was only trying to help.”
“Bullshit. You were trying to manipulate me. You were trying to muddy my head with your filled out muscles and smooth skin.”
His dick jumped.
“Come on. I was doing nothing of the sort.”
The hell he wasn’t.
And she knew it.
He raised his hands in front of him. “Seriously.”
“Get out.”
“Blayne, come on.”
She grabbed his shirt and threw it at his face. “Get. Out.”
There were times to advance, and there were times to retreat.
And there were times to run like hell from a mad woman with a blade.

Nina Crespo Presents: Binging on Books with Lynne Silver
Nina: I met Lynne last year at the Romance Writers of America conference where we clicked during a brainstorming session. I still enjoy chatting with her about characters and plot. She has wonderful story ideas so make sure you check out her books.
Nina: If you were on a restricted diet of romance, what would be your main course (genre or trope) and why?
Lynne: NOOO, don’t restrict my genre! I’m a binge genre reader. I’ll go for a week reading only Regency, then switch to paranormal, then contemporary. It all depends on my mood. But for one week at a time, I stick with one sub-genre of romance. There are also certain tropes I love and some I hate. If I love a trope, it’s a one-click for sure. That goes for virgin hero, fated mates, and marriage of convenience. And if the book has a secret baby, enemies to lovers, or a billionaire boss, I’m outta there.
Nina: What’s your favorite dessert—an alpha or a beta hero?
Lynne: I like my alphas, but he better not be an alpha-hole. I want a confident man, one who’s so confident he can allow others to shine.
Nina: What’s your after dinner drink? Coffee, tea, wine champagne, brandy (or your choice:).
Lynne: I’m a water drinker, but if I’m feeling naughty, I drink half/half (iced tea/lemonade).
Twelve men are willing to fight and die for her.
Only one will triumph.
In a world where fertility is a rare and treasured thing, Jane—the breeder for Windy City—is ready to fulfill her destiny and repopulate the earth, with the help of the one man strong enough to have her. The man she’s dreamed of for as long as she can remember.
One fight. One winner. One month of uninhibited pleasure. For Ethan, losing Jane isn’t an option. He’s spent years preparing for this battle, for his woman, but marriage and family are a thing of the past, and happily-ever-afters don’t come easy.
No matter the temptation, they can’t stay lost in each other’s bodies forever. The clock is ticking, and Ethan means to keep Jane for always. No matter what it takes.
For those times when size does matter. The Dirty Bits from Carina Press: Quick and dirty, just the way we like it. One-click with confidence. This title is part of the Carina Press Romance Promise: all the romance you’re looking for with an HEA/HFN. It’s a promise!
Excerpt
“You’re on, Jane,” Michael said.
I smiled out to the audience hoping to convey my impartiality to the home viewers. My fingers trembled as I lowered my hand into the bowl. For good show, I rustled my hand around, taking care to tease out the anticipation, but not take too long for fear the males in the audience would revolt.
Several members of the Guard stood at strategic points in the auditorium to ensure the process would go without violence. It was one hundred men against a dozen, even if those dozen had serious weapons.
I drew out the first name and handed the folded card to Michael. He smoothed it open and read out, “Simon Carter.” Behind us, the name flashed on the screen in the number one slot. I scanned the audience looking for the man named Simon Carter to come running up the aisle to claim his prize. No applause or cheers accompanied him. This surprised me. When I watched in previous years from my dorm room, it had always sounded as if the studio audience had gone wild. Instead, reality was silent.
“This is a competition. They won’t cheer for their opponent,” Michael said under his breath as he interpreted my confusion. “Smile.” I now understood the cheers had been dubbed in for the home audience and forced the smile back on my face. I wondered what else was different for the home audience. What other surprises were headed my way?
Another second passed before the first candidate bounded up the steps and onto the stage. He towered over me. His expression was pure intent as he stalked over to me and yanked me to him for a kiss. This I’d been expecting. Each candidate got to kiss the Breeder before the real competition began. I hadn’t been expecting his height and strength as he overwhelmed me with his power.
Back at school, girls kissed all the time. Those innocent kisses had not prepared me for the feel of a man’s body pressing against mine. I felt dainty and petite against him.
The kiss went on for long seconds, leaving me breathless and clinging to his wide shoulders. “You’re gonna be mine,” he growled against my ear before stepping back.
I nodded mutely. Maybe he would be the winner. He seemed strong enough to me.
